Who We Are

This website, marylandmvaappointment.com, is operated by Maryland MVA Appointment (“we,” “us” or “our”), an independent informational website that explains Maryland MVA appointments and services. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@marylandmvaappointment.com.

This policy applies only to this website. Official websites we link to, such as mva.maryland.gov and mymva.maryland.gov, have their own privacy policies. Please also read our Terms and Conditions.

Information We Collect

Information you choose to send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in your message. We ask you not to send ID numbers, documents or payment details, and we do not need them.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting, security and caching services automatically record technical information when you visit, such as:

  • Your IP address and approximate location based on it (city or region level)
  • Browser type, device type, operating system and screen size
  • Pages you view, the page that referred you and the date and time of your visit

Information from cookies and similar tools

Our analytics and advertising partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to collect information about your visit. Section 4 explains each type.

What we never collect on purpose: driver’s license or ID numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, health information, payment card details or myMVA passwords. Our tools, such as checklists, finders and practice quizzes, run in your browser, and your answers are not sent to us.

How We Use Information

  • To deliver pages quickly and make the site work on your device
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix errors
  • To understand which pages are useful so we can improve our guides
  • To show advertising that keeps the website free to read
  • To reply to your emails and correct information you report
  • To meet legal obligations and protect our rights

We do not use your information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We and our partners use the following types:

TypeWhat it does
Essential and consentKeeps the site working and remembers the privacy choices you make in our consent message.
AnalyticsCounts visits and shows how pages are used, such as which pages are viewed most and on which devices.
AdvertisingLets Google and its partners show ads, limit how often you see the same ad and measure ad performance. Some cookies are used for personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, some parts of the site, such as remembering your privacy choices, may not work as expected. Ads will still appear, but they will be less relevant.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this website. This is how it works:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Ads may also be served by other third-party vendors and ad networks certified by Google, which may place and read cookies or use web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

Ads on this site come from third parties. An ad does not mean we recommend or endorse that business, as our disclaimer explains. Appointments with the MVA are booked only on the official myMVA website, and the MVA does not charge a fee to schedule one.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website, such as how many people visit, which pages they read and what device they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives information such as your IP address, which Google uses to estimate general location. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We look at this information in summary reports, not to identify individual visitors.

You can stop Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers that host, secure and speed up the website or handle our email, who may use it only to provide their service to us
  • Advertising and analytics partners, such as Google, as described in Sections 5 and 6
  • Legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us
  • Business changes, if the website is transferred to a new owner, who must follow this policy

Some US state laws treat the use of cookie data for personalized advertising as a “sale,” “sharing” or “targeted advertising.” You can opt out of this as explained in Sections 5 and 9.

Your Privacy Rights (Maryland and Other US States)

Maryland’s Online Data Privacy Act and similar laws in other US states give residents rights over their personal data. Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

AccessConfirm whether we have your data and get a copy
CorrectFix information about you that is inaccurate
DeleteRemove personal data we hold about you
PortabilityReceive your data in a usable format
Opt outOf targeted advertising, sale and profiling
AppealAsk us to review a decision on your request

How to make a request

Email support@marylandmvaappointment.com with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us which right you want to use. We will confirm your request by replying to the email address you write from; we will never ask for ID numbers. We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend this by another 45 days when reasonably necessary, and we will tell you why.

Because we do not run accounts or forms, we usually hold very little information that is linked to you, mostly emails you have sent us. Cookie data used for ads is held by our advertising partners, so also use the opt-out links in Section 5.

Appeals

If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with the word “Appeal.” We will respond within 60 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general; in Maryland, that is the Office of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.

We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Children’s Privacy

This website is written for adults and for teens preparing for a learner’s permit or license, often with a parent. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not knowingly sell personal data of anyone under 18 or use it for targeted advertising.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

How Long We Keep Information

  • Emails: kept as long as needed to answer you and follow up, and generally deleted within 24 months unless the law requires longer
  • Server and security logs: kept for a short time by our hosting and security providers, according to their own schedules
  • Cookies: stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them

How We Protect Information

The whole website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we use reputable hosting and security services to protect it. Because we collect so little, there is very little to put at risk. Still, no method of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure, so please never email sensitive personal details.

Links to Other Websites

Our pages link to official websites such as mva.maryland.gov and mymva.maryland.gov, and ads may link to other businesses. When you leave our site, this policy no longer applies. Please read the privacy policy of every website where you enter personal information, especially before you book, pay or sign in.

Visitors Outside the United States

This website is intended for people in the United States, especially Maryland. If you visit from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our website, our partners or privacy laws change. The current version is always on this page. If we make an important change, we will make it clear on this page so you can review it.
